Abstract

This book has covered a lot of ground, and yet many readers will insist that crucial subjects are missing. I sympathize. They are probably right. Many choices went into limiting the scope of this book to a reasonable length. For example, HTTP implementations and application servers could have been discussed in more detail. Language standards were almost completely ignored. There may have been too much discussion of networks and data transport, yet important protocols may still be missing.
