You’ve decided for what office you’d most like to put your hat in the ring. It’s time to file. That’s right. You must file paperwork to declare that you are in the race. Filing to run is a step that is both a legal statement and a personal statement about your intentions to run for office. Filing to run allows you to go public with the announcement of your candidacy and to begin collecting money for your campaign. Failure to properly file prevents you from being a serious candidate and may even prevent you from entering the race at all.
