Abstract
Marty Garrison is the Vice President of Technology Operations and Broadcast Engineering for NPR.
As the technology leader, Garrison oversees the Information Services, Broadcast Engineering, and Distribution divisions as well as the Public Radio Satellite System. His primary responsibility is to ensure the integrity of NPR’s daily technical operations, including information operations, software development, and telecommunications services; as well as production and distribution operations and systems.
Prior to coming to NPR in 2010, Garrison was the vice president of technology and operations at Thomson Reuters. In this position he was responsible for the professional division’s data centers and strategies, server platforms, networks, database technology, SAP enterprise infrastructure and voice systems.
For over 10 years Garrison served as the senior vice president of global technical operations at Turner Broadcasting System where he was responsible for all aspects of the technological infrastructure for TBS, Time Warner Corporate, and CNN. He was instrumental in all broadcast and technology infrastructure for numerous buildings worldwide including the Time Warner Center in New York City.
Garrison holds a Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
