Abstract

In building blended SharePoint 2010 and ASP.NET solutions, the next area to investigate is a built-in feature set in SharePoint 2010 known as Business Connectivity Services. While it is possible to build connected solutions without using built-in feature sets through methods such as we have investigated in previous chapters, if there are areas from which we can leverage features in the SharePoint 2010 product, it would be remiss not to investigate these. In this chapter, we will investigate the use of Business Connectivity Services and show how to use them from within SharePoint 2010 to complement ASP.NET solutions to expose external LOB systems.
