Abstract
Now that we have investigated SharePoint as a development platform and highlighted some basic aspects of SharePoint development with Visual Studio 2010, we have the prerequisite information to be able to delve into the nature of what SharePoint really is at the core. This is helpful to do because understanding some of the basic elements and characteristics of SharePoint is critical for making informed decisions about different options that are available when combining ASP.NET applications and SharePoint 2010.
