Abstract
Fiddler allows developers to easily decipher the hidden communications between client and server, allowing for a more holistic view of the Web, its applications, and the delicate interactions that make today’s web sites so powerful.
I used this chapter to introduce Fiddler to you and encourage its use as a way to fix a broad range of web development issues. I began with the basics: installation, information, and basic session monitoring. Following this was filtering and tampering, ways to get what you want out of Fiddler’s data. Performance was next, where I covered ways that you can use Fiddler to speed up your site and servers. We ended with some lighter topics: how to enable HTTPS debugging in Fiddler, and how to collect traffic captures from end users using FiddlerCap.
