Abstract

So far you have built an AppFabric application and deployed it; however, you might wonder how you take existing .NET applications and upgrade them to AppFabric. You need to keep many things in mind when looking to upgrade your existing applications. AppFabric only hosts applications that are written in .NET 4, so this chapter will focus this chapter on upgrading and migrating to .NET 4.0. The one area where this is not the case centers on AppFabric’s caching capabilities. AppFabric’s caching capabilities can host and deal with .NET components created with previous versions of the framework, but the rest of the hosting functionality uses .NET 4.
