Abstract
Physical media have been the basis for the backup since the first large-scale computer systems. However, physical media, as previously shown, have a number of limitations. The ability to allocate resources to the right areas, the details required in management of the backup media, and the general overhead required to simply maintain physical media can make physical media environments difficult to manage at scale.
