Abstract

Okay, so the Web has always been there, at least for the purposes of popular consciousness, which has the historical attention span of a mayfly. But once you embark on a connected mobile lifestyle, netbook tucked neatly into your messenger bag, the Internet looks a little different than it did when you were tethered to the wall socket. Nuances matter, not just because of the size of a netbook or the fact that it's powered by batteries. Rather it is a matter of our fundamental perceptions about connectedness. You are now a de facto part of global thought culture, and you can join up with your posse of likeminded peers at will.
