Getting Around Using Maps

Abstract

Whether your job requires you to travel between client locations in your own city or if it requires you to travel throughout your state or region or internationally, the Maps application can quickly and easily become the best travel tool you’ve ever used. Tied into both Google Maps and the iPhone’s location services (including its GPS capabilities), you can not only find exactly where you are at any given minute and how to get to a specific address from your current location (either on foot, by car, or using the local mass transit system), you can identify any type of nearby business and get details about it, such as location, contact information, hours of operation, and web address. As if that wasn’t enough, Maps can also give you real-time traffic alerts and show your progress as you navigate your way to your destination. On the iPhone 3GS, a built-in digital compass not only allows you to see where you are and get directions, but to automatically orient your map and view according to the direction you’re facing.
