Abstract

We discussed code pairs in the last chapter. Now, we focus on a different kind of pair, those found in the SDQ segment. The pairs in the SDQ are not qualifier/value code pairs like those you just saw, but are value/value pairs. The first node in the pair contains a location; the second node in the pair contains a quantity. The location and quantity are for a line item, usually indicating a store and the quantity of the line item for that store. The same store may appear in every iteration of a line item loop, and the most common mapping requirement is that the data be rearranged from line-item-centric to store-centric. This chapter discusses such a rearrangement.
