User-defined stored procedures are used extensively by SQL programmers. Understanding how to create, manage, and the various ways to use them will put you on the right track to becoming a senior-level SQL programmer. After you complete this chapter and the extensive examples presented in Chapters 13 and 14, you should be prepared to tackle most any SQL programming task you encounter.
