Overview

The date and time functions in VB 6.0 have been duplicated in the System.DateTime class. When working with this class in .NET, it’s important to keep in mind that some of the methods are used with an instance of the DateTime object and other methods are static. The static methods are called using the DateTime class, not an instance of the class. This is identified within this chapter.

VB .NET can define a variable using either the Date data type or using the DateTime data type of the .NET Framework. They are equivalent to each other. For consistency purposes, VB .NET code in this chapter will use the DateTime data type.
