Abstract

One of the fascinating aspects of remoting is how many levels of complexity it has. At one level, remoting is as easy as setting some configuration details, creating the remote object, and using it. At the other end of the complexity spectrum, remoting can involve the creation of custom proxies, channels, and formatters. This chapter strikes a balance between these two extremes by examining some more advanced, but still practical, remoting techniques without wandering into the esoteric realms of the topic.
