Abstract
When you look closely at the capabilities of the.NET Framework, you see that distinguished software engineer Anders Hjelsberg and his development team at Microsoft intentionally swept away many of the barriers to programming good software for the Web. Developing a Web application in Visual Basic.NET resembles developing a desktop application in many respects. However, differences in the underlying technologies require some corresponding differences between the two kinds of applications as well. In this chapter we focus on those differences.
