Abstract
Colt is both an open source library designed for scientific computing, and the distribution of a specific set of third-party Java libraries, one of which is the Colt library. The end goal of the distribution is to make technical computing easier with Java by creating a baseline of utilities for common tasks in the scientific community. Originally written by Wolfgang Hoschek for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), you’ll find that the Colt distribution provides, for the right audience, a useful collection of Java utilities.
