Abstract
The JGL Libraries are a Java add-on from ObjectSpace modeled after the C++ Standard Template Libraries (STL). While the standard Java Development Kit was evolving, and prior to the now standard Collections Framework, there was limited support for data collections in the core libraries. Vector and Hashtable primarily provided this support. Since ObjectSpace worked considerably with STL, they naturally ported their work over to Java. The libraries were then licensed to practically all of the early Java IDE vendors and became a de facto standard for Java collections support.
