Abstract

In Chapter 1, you learned that you can use almost any kind of data source to drive your dynamic Web pages. You also learned that the relational database is the most commonly used type of data source for this purpose. In this chapter, you’ll take a closer look at how relational databases actually work. You’ll see how data is organized inside a database, and to make sure you understand it, you’ll build your own sample database from scratch for use in Chapters 3–8.
