Abstract

We have spent the entire book so far walking through examples that illustrate how to work with data in a connected state, that is, making a direct connection to the database and working with data in a direct fashion. While this works in many cases, it is no secret or mystery that more and more business and applications require that they work in a disconnected, n-tier environment to support the ever-expanding SOA (service-oriented architecture) arena.
