Abstract
In this chapter, I’ll present recipes for creating and using DataManipulation Language (DML) and Data Definition Language (DDL) triggers. DML triggers contain Transact-SQL code that is used to respond to an INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE operation against a table or view. DDL triggers respond to server or database events instead of datamodifications. For example, you can create a DDL trigger that writes to an audit table whenever a database user issues the CREATE TABLE or DROP TABLE command.
