Abstract
Oracle Database 11g provides several significant enhancements in the areas of database manageability that alleviate the burden of the day-to-day activities of DBAs. You already saw some of the key new administration-related features in Chapter 2, where we discussed administration features such as the fault diagnosability infrastructure, the Health Monitor, and the Data Repair Advisor. In this chapter, we focus on several important Oracle Database 11g features that affect the performance of day-to-day administrative tasks. We discuss the new features pertaining to performance tuning in Chapter 4 and new security features in Chapter 6.
