Abstract

Sometimes developers require their Flex applications to communicate with a web browser. Perhaps the SWF file needs to integrate with an existing JavaScript or Ajax-based application. Maybe the developer has strong JavaScript skills, but needs to use some of the components or multimedia capabilities available in the Flex framework. Whatever the requirement, it’s possible for SWF movies to communicate with their Flash Player container, usually a web browser, and that’s the topic for this chapter.
