Abstract

One important topic that is garnering more and more interest is VoIP. VoIP, however, entails a host of scenarios and can often be a term that is overused. It’s important to clarify what we mean by VoIP. As the term indicates, Voice over IP (VoIP) refers to transporting voice over an IP network. Communicator 2005 offers peer-to-peer VoIP calls between internal users enabled for Live Communications where the media (that is, voice) traverses the IP network uniquely without bridging to the PSTN network. Calling is based on the user’s identity (that is, the SIP URI).
