Abstract
.NET 3.0 can be viewed as an “augmentative release” to the .NET platform. Given this, you will be happy to know that all of the .NET topics, tools, and types described within the previous 25 chapters are still completely relevant under .NET 3.0. The new features contained within the latest release of the platform can happily sit side by side with .NET 2.0, and are strictly speaking entirely optional. Of course, as shown through the remainder of this text, there are many compelling reasons to make use of the functionality found within .NET 3.0. To be sure, the .NET 3.0 technology set is poised to quickly become the preferred approach for developing software targeting the Vista operating system.
