Summary
ASP.NET 2.0 Web Parts are an incredible tool for up-and-coming websites. Portal technology will continue to evolve as the community embraces the toolset. It’s reassuring to know that we’ll still be able to throw some Ajax into the mix since Ajax Web Parts are still, at their heart, user controls.
In the next few chapters, we’ll shift away from the sample applications and begin to look at security, performance, and debugging of Ajax applications. A lot of the topics that we’ll discuss are applicable to all ASP.NET 2.0 applications and will be worth reading about even if you’re not concerned with the role that Ajax will play in those areas.
