Introduction to Database Testing

This chapter has been an introduction to using the power of .NET and Visual Studio to access and work with databases on a test project. In the process, you’ve been introduced to the Database Explorer tool, a few of ADO.NET’s major objects, and both the ASP.NET data source controls and the more advanced DataAdapter/DataSet controls. With all of this, you’ve still only just touched the tip of the iceberg. This topic is large enough to span an entire book. We encourage you to follow up our primer with continued practice and study. There are more resources for the database application tester and, specifically, the .NET tester. Check out QA Forums ( and other testing groups for links to database testing resources. Our resource list in Appendix C will help you in this next step.
