Summary
By now, you should have a pretty good grasp of what BitmapData is and what it can do for you. It’s a really great interface for manipulating bitmap information with far more power than you’ve ever had access to before with Flash. It can be very fast compared to movie clip-level color work. However, although working with BitmapData is fast in terms of processor speed, you have to bear in mind that BitmapData instances can be real memory hogs, and that’s why you should use dispose whenever you’ve finished with an image.
This chapter has really only scratched the surface of what’s possible with the BitmapData API—from here on out, the rest is up to you! Have fun, and above all, be creative.
