In this chapter, you’ve learned how to take control of the Linux desktop, getting rid of annoyances and generally making it work the way you want. We’ve looked at personalizing the SUSE Linux look and feel, and tweaking the mouse configuration (including setting up a notebook’s Synaptics touchpad). We’ve also looked at personalizing the desktop by adding new applet programs and shortcuts to other programs. The final section discussed how to tailor the power-saving function of SUSE Linux to suit your needs.

In the next chapter, we’ll look at the various pieces of software supplied with SUSE Linux that can be used as direct swap-in replacements for Windows favorites.
