Abstract

It is not difficult to find proposals for creating ideal lifestyles—most people have some idea of what their concept of an ideal lifestyle would be if they had opportunity to formulate it. The fulfillment of utopia, as perceived by its frequent promoters, offers potential opportunity for steady employment, fellowship, and a strong support group. Such dreams have many times been realized in the not too distant past, and there are many splendid models from which we can learn. The experiences of all the communities discussed in this book offer valuable insights into what might improve society as we know it.
