Abstract

Private colleges and universities offer certain freedoms that are not found in state schools and can present a different set of constraints. While private institutions do not face the need to please state legislatures, they can experience intense pressure from their Boards of Trustees, often made up of a variety of individuals, including alumni/ae of the institution.
