Abstract
You did not go to law school, but negotiating a contract is not for lawyers only. Once a job offer has been made, you will be expected to sign a contract that binds you and the institution to mutual agreements. It is a legal matter, so should only be signed after the greatest of scrutiny and, if possible, with someone to help you think through the implications.
