Abstract

Service is an amorphous category used to describe the many ways colleagues contribute to their institutions beyond the classroom and research/writing. This may include your function as the chair or member of a committee, your leadership in your department, your willingness to be the faculty sponsor for a club, your choice to live in a residence hall in a supervisory capacity. It may also include your work outside the institution in professional associations. It can even encompass your role as a religious professional, if that is related to your primary responsibilities as a teacher.
