Abstract
The Society of Biblical Literature Annual Meeting can be a little overwhelming for a newcomer. Regional meetings, held in the Pacific, Pacific Northwest, Midwest, and Southeastern regions, are sometimes less threatening and more accessible. They are a good place to make your first presentation and to develop allies outside of your institutions. Some regional meetings occur with the AAR, but not all of them.
