Abstract
No magic wand here, just a quick word about the fact that all of us have relationships with our work colleagues. The question is how to live them out with integrity while being women in religious studies, given the sexist, racist, heterosexist, and colonialist assumptions that reign. For example, how does a single, heterosexual woman date someone in her immediate circle without having her personal life influence her first-year performance review? Or, how does a woman of color on a small campus develop her social life without having that fishbowl feeling? Or, how can a lesbian woman have a commitment ceremony without fearing the loss of her job at a conservative school?
