Abstract
At mid-afternoon on Monday, September 13,1852, several residents of Pleasant Valley (near Second and Howard streets) watched in horror as a man, later identified as Jose Forni, chased another man down the high sand hill at that location, stabbing him repeatedly. Neighborhood residents piled out of their homes and chased Forni back up the hill where they subdued him and placed him under arrest.1
