Transparent di-ureasil hybrid materials, doped with CdS, Au and Ag nanoparticles (NPs) were obtained by mixing preformed colloidal dispersions with a ureasilicate precursor, followed by gelation and drying. The nanocomposites were characterized by optical spectroscopy in the UV and visible region and by steady-state photoluminescence.
