Abstract
Morocco has a very large potential for harnessing renewable energy sources. However, there is a large gap between the estimated potential for renewable energy and the cumulative achievements made so far. This chapter discusses the role of wind energy in the development of strategies for supplying clean and renewable energy in Morocco. The authors examine policy options for promoting an increased adoption of wind energy technologies by industry. They explore options for Morocco to promote this form of energy on a larger scale, with the target also of achieving social development and environmental protection objectives. In the chapter an emphasis is put on regional security and sustainable development, with security related to economic, social and environmental aspects.
