In December of 1983, the German Federal Constitutional Court1 declared unconstitutional certain provisions of the revised Census Act (Volkszählungsurteil) that had been adopted unanimously by the German Federal Parliament but were nevertheless challenged by diverse associations before the Constitutional Court.
