The Influence Of Motor-Car Exhaust On The Content Of Non-Structural Carbohydrates In Stem Apices, Floral Meristems And Apical Buds Of Tagetes Patula L. And Calendula Officinales L.

Simulation and Assessment of Chemical Processes in a Multiphase Environment

It has been shown that the decrease in flowering of Tagetes patula L. and Calendula officinales L. under conditions of environmental pollution due to motor-car exhaust fumes results in a reduction of non-structural carbohydrates in stem apices, floral meristems and apical buds. This might be one of the reasons for reduced flowering intensity. A comparison of the results showed that the negative effect of pollutants on non-structural carbohydrates in generative organs was greater in Calendula officinales L. than in Tagetes patula L.
