Abstract

Dysphagia is among the most common gastrointestinal symptoms in the elderly, with a population prevalence in the elderly in excess of 10%. While mechanical obstruction accounts for some portion of this burden, the majority of these subjects do not have strictures or cancer. Motility disorders account for a large portion of the remainder of these patients.
