New forms of combining tangible interfaces and Augmented Reality (AR) systems are the supporting technologies which can be devised to leverage the way learners develop skills/knowledge in the design process. The paper presents a theoretical framework which conceptualizes how tangible AR spatial interactive systems can be utilized to support cognitive development of design learning. The framework can be applied not only to evaluate existing tangible AR interfaces, but to conceptualize new prototypes for design learning activities.
