Cell Plasma Membranes and Phase Transitions

  • Chapter
Phase Transitions in Cell Biology

Abstract

Cell plasma membrane phaseplays a large role in membrane trafficking and signaling. The rolethat membrane phase plays in cell function, current hypothesesconcerning the size and time duration of the phase transitions, andthe role in disease are discussed.
