Abstract
Flow control may be used to achieve efficient mixing which is important in many applications including in various combustors and chemical reactors. Mixing and its rate can be measured in terms of the concentration variance, c′2, and its time dependence. Efficient mixing can be achieved if the energy input required can be minimised for values as low as c′2 or as high as possible mixing rates.
