The clymeniid faunas of the Urals and Kazakhstan are renowned for their diversity and abundance. Thousands of excellently preserved shells represent all known families and most genera. Ammonoids are mostly found in carbonate units containing almost exclusively cephalopods and conodonts with very little or no benthic fauna.
