Abstract
A version of the theoretical design of a size distribution function for mixed-layer thermals is proposed. In the framework of this approach, classical Boltzmann statistics is supplemented with a hydrodynamic invariant that describes the motion of isolated thermals. The gamma distribution that we have derived agrees with numerous experimental data obtained earlier for size distribution of thermals in the convective boundary layer.
