Abstract
Motion of an elliptic vortex ring is considered as an example of unsteady 3D vortex motion. The Local Induction Equation is used for the analysis. By keeping the self-induction constant and changing its value in the equation, different features of particle motion around an elliptic vortex ring, corresponding to thin and fat vortex rings, can be observed numerically.
