The article includes results and outcomes obtained during the implementation of the EC/TACIS “ASREWAM Aral Sea 30560” Project. The overall objective of this project was to analyze the needs and to improve the potential of water management organizations in the field of integrated approach, planning and management of the water resources of transboundary Chu and Talas rivers. This paper is focused on the assessment of ecological and environmental aspects of the process of integrated water resources management.
