A favorite chestnut of college professors tells us that “one should never assume, because it makes an ass out of you and me.” For years, many physicians and researchers assumed that HT would most likely positively affect women's susceptibility to heart disease, stroke, and thrombosis after menopause. The assumption made a great deal of sense, but the reality has turned out to be somewhat different.
