Multiculturalism, Shared Values, and an Ethical Response to Globalization

  • Chapter
Changing Education

Part of the book series: CERC Studies in Comparative Education ((CERC,volume 20))

In the Introduction to this volume, the editors describe the concerns of the chapters in this section in terms of the following aims: to establish some empirical realities of contemporary patterns of global interdependence; to explore how and to what extent these realities are related to crises in equity and the need to re-emphasise values and ethics as pivotal in education; to examine how complex global realities point to the importance of developing shared values and norms in the equitable enhancement of global diversity; and to consider the implications of complex interdependence for educational change.
