Abstract
Turbulent field around a two-dimensional symmetric aerofoil in the grid turbulence has been measured and compared with the kinematic simulation results. The model used in this study is the combined model of random Fourier modes method and rapid distortion theory (RDT). For two cases of τmax/LE (τmax: the maximum aerofoil thickness, LE: the integral length scale of incident turbulence), the effects of blocking and distortion on the wavenumber spectra and the r.m.s. velocity fluctuation have been mainly investigated. As a whole, the simulation results show good agreements with the experimental results, so the validity of the present kinematic simulation is confirmed.
